After the European destinations, it is time now for the African continent. On Thursday November 18th our AIBXC coaches Giacomo Reina (Thunder’s 5 Milano) and Michele Bianchi (Leonessa BXC), together with President Alberto Mazzanti, will fly to Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania.
Back in May AIBXC, supported by the WBSC Paralympic Commission, held a webinar to 20 participants, members of Tanzania Baseball and Softball Association (TABSA) and the Dar es Salaam University College of Education.
On that occasion Michele and Giacomo together with Giangiacomo Bonomo (a blind player for Tigers Cagliari) and Lorenzo de Regny (AIBXC chairman and a member of WBSC Paralympic Commission) trained coaches and athletes about the game, the rules, the social benefits for the visually impaired and how to use the full starter-kit: sound base, clappers and balls (issued by WBSC to TABSA)
On the first day of the trip, Friday November 19th, our members will be welcomed by the Italian Ambassador Marco Lombardi at the Embassy of Dar es Salaam, following which the 2-day Clinic will begin.
The Clinic includes a review of the notions already learned during the webinar and the deepening of the technical skills on the field.
Besides the Physical education teachers of the Dar es Salaam University College of Education and the members of Tanzania Baseball and Softball Association, already trained to B4B, the event will be also attended by a group of visually impaired boys/girls, hoping that they will be the pioneers of the first team in the African continent
